Turin, 18 Sept. (LaPresse) – Sufian Abu Zaida, a former minister of the Palestinian National Authority originally from Gaza, stated in a video posted on social media that he had been instructed by the then Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar to convey a message to Israel prior to the attack on 7 October 2023. The message was a warning: Sinwar reportedly intended to cause an ‘earthquake’ if the negotiations then underway with Tel Aviv for a long-term agreement with Hamas were to fail. In an investigation into the events leading up to the 7 October attack, ‘Haaretz’ journalist Shlomi Eldar, apparently referring to Abu Zaida, described an unidentified source who had acted as an intermediary between Sinwar and Israel.
