(LaPresse) – The founder of the French far-right party Reconquête, Éric Zemmour, has announced on the Bfmtv channel that he will stand as a candidate in the 2027 presidential elections in France. “I am not a politician; I am a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic,” he told Bfmtv. He then added: “You heard me right, I will be standing in the presidential election.” His first bid for the Élysée Palace was in 2022. He described the result at the time as “a disappointment” compared with the polls in the preceding months, but added: “To secure 7 per cent despite never having been a politician before is quite surprising and noteworthy. I did not embark on this battle five years ago to pursue a career in politics; I am not a politician. I embarked on this battle to save France from the Great Replacement.”
