(LaPresse) – More than 1,000 waves of cyberattacks have been recorded against the infrastructure used to organise voting in Russia’s State Duma elections, and more than 120 against remote electronic voting. This was stated by the chair of the Russian Central Electoral Commission, Ella Pamfilova, as quoted by Interfax. “The attacks were carried out by highly professional and well-coordinated groups, using artificial intelligence tools,” she explained. Pamfilova emphasised that the attacks had no effect on the conduct of the vote and that they were all successfully repelled. The chair of the Central Electoral Commission went on to clarify that “the attacks originated predominantly from abroad”.
