Rome, Sept. 22 (LaPresse) — EU High Representative Kaja Kallas met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. “We discussed diplomatic prospects for ending the war between the United States and Iran and for the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz,” Kallas wrote on X. “Before the war, there were no tolls or transit fees, and there should be none afterward either. Navigation must be free and unimpeded, both in the Strait of Hormuz and the Strait of Bab el-Mandab,” she added. “I also raised the issue of internal repression in Iran, including the sharp increase in executions and death sentences,” Kallas concluded.
