Interfax reported this, citing the Kremlin press service. “An in-depth exchange of views took place on the situation in the Middle East, particularly in the Persian Gulf region. The statement noted that there are no alternatives to political and diplomatic efforts to normalize the current crisis, taking into account the interests of all parties,” the statement reads. With regard to “the deterioration of the political and military situation in Yemen,” they confirmed “the need for a rapid cessation of hostilities and the creation of conditions for the launch of a constructive dialogue among Yemenis under the auspices of the United Nations.” At the same time, “the importance of ensuring the safe and unimpeded passage of ships through the region’s international waterways, including the Bab el-Mandeb and the Strait of Hormuz, was emphasized,” the statement concludes.
