Belgrade (Serbia), 27 Sept. (LaPresse/AP) – Serbian populist President Aleksandar Vučić has resigned to stand as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister in the forthcoming snap parliamentary elections. Vučić’s second presidential term was due to end in May next year. The Serbian Constitution prohibits him from standing for a third term, and he has stated that he wishes to resign in order to lead his right-wing Serbian Progressive Party in the elections on 25 October.
