Cape Town (South Africa), 27 Sept. (LaPresse/AP) – Two separate mass shootings near South Africa’s two largest cities have left at least 27 people dead, according to the South African Police Service. On Saturday evening, 17 people were killed when suspects armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols opened fire in a bar in the township of Wedela, south-west of Johannesburg. In a separate statement, the police reported that 10 people were killed in a mass shooting at a shop in Lwandle, near Cape Town, at around 1 am on Sunday. The two shootings took place just a few days after a mass shooting at a house party near the city of Durban, on the east coast, in which 11 people were killed, including a pregnant woman. The police stated that no arrests had been made in connection with the two most recent mass shootings and, according to initial reports, the authorities are searching for several armed men in both cases.
