Rome, 4 Oct. (LaPresse) – Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, chief negotiator and Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, states that Washington has put forward “some proposals via a mediator” after Tehran presented a seven-day roadmap for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, he stated that the United States should be aware “that the era of wasting time and imposing unilateral demands is over” and that Iran’s position remains “clear and definitive”. Al Jazeera reports this, adding that “the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until the seven conditions set out in the Islamabad Memorandum have been met”. Ghalibaf said that Iran “will fight and negotiate at the same time”. “We are present on the battlefield with all our forces and will confront them with new surprises, whilst also using the tools of diplomacy to assert our military superiority and uphold the rights of the Iranian people,” he added. Last month, Iran formally presented the United States, via Qatari mediators, with a series of conditions for ending the war. These conditions included the cessation of hostilities on all fronts, the unfreezing of frozen funds, the end of the naval blockade of Iranian ports, an end to US interference in Iran’s internal affairs, an end to US cooperation with Iran’s adversaries, and the cessation of all US attacks on Iranian territory.
