Milan, Oct. 5 (LaPresse) – President Lula has appealed to those who abstained in the first round of the presidential election to go to the polls in the runoff. Abstentions accounted for 21% of voters, or around 33 million people. In the first round, the Workers’ Party candidate received 45.08% of the votes, behind Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), who reached 47.10%. “People like having me in the second round. I am very good in direct confrontations. In one-on-one situations. Let’s see what projects the country has. 28 million did not vote. We appeal to people to understand that voting is necessary to define the future of this country. We have about twenty days of election campaigning,” he said, before going on the attack. “Bolsonaro supporters, get ready: we will defeat you.” Since neither candidate received more than half of the valid votes, the presidential race will be decided on October 25.
