This is the warning issued by the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini, during the Political-Security Cabinet meeting held last night, according to Channel 12. Zini presented the ministers with an intelligence alert: according to information held by the Shin Bet – as reported by Channel 12 – Hamas is reportedly stepping up its efforts to carry out a complex attack or a targeted kidnapping and aims to plan the operation around the time of the forthcoming elections or in the period immediately following them, with the intention of causing a major stir, disrupting the political and security agenda in Israel and influencing the operational situation. The defence establishment is reportedly preparing to thwart these attempts and is maintaining a high level of readiness across all sectors. Elections in Israel are scheduled for 27 October.
