Milan, 6 Oct. (LaPresse) – A major day of student protests is expected today in France, in what has been described as ‘Act III’ of the mobilisation. The day of protest is supported by several trade unions. In particular, an inter-union alliance in the education sector – comprising various organisations (FSU, CGT, FO, CFDT, Unsa, Sud and Solidaires) – has called on people to join the student movement. At the march in Paris, which will set off from Place de la République at around 2.00 pm and end at Place de la Nation, the police are expecting between 20,000 and 30,000 participants. Marches are also planned in numerous other cities, including Tours, Rennes, Brest, Nancy, Marseille, Montpellier, Toulouse, Besançon, Perpignan and Lille. The French Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, yesterday called for a “peaceful” mobilisation.
