Moscow, Oct. 6 (LaPresse) – The possible deployment of a NATO military base and nuclear weapons in Lithuania would represent a further escalation of tensions and force Russia to take retaliatory measures. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this, quoted by Tass. “None of these developments will contribute to stability and predictability on the European continent. On the contrary, to our regret, they will represent a further significant escalation of tensions,” he explained. Russia, he continued, “will be forced to take all necessary measures to ensure its security.”
