Rome, 8 Oct. (LaPresse) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has described “the attempts by the Italian authorities to speak of alleged Russian interference in the elections as unhealthy and disrespectful towards the Italian people”. “It strikes me as rather unhealthy. In recent years, there has not been a single election in Western Europe that has not been accompanied by accusations – which, frankly, have now become pathological – of alleged Russian interference,” she said during a press briefing, commenting on the remarks made by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani regarding possible Russian interference. “It is simply disrespectful towards the Italian people to make such statements – whether by the Foreign Minister or any other minister – by playing the so-called ‘Russia card’,” the diplomat added, according to TASS.
