Rome, 9 Oct. (LaPresse) – An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck Panama, 10 kilometres west of Pitaloza Arriba. This was reported by the USGS, which has issued a tsunami warning. The epicentre is located near the southern tip of the Central American country, approximately 14 km south-west of the remote community of Pitaloza Arriba. The warning applies to the Pacific coastlines of Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador and Mexico. People poured into the streets in Panama City; residents of the capital, visibly shaken, gathered outdoors awaiting news on the aftermath of the earthquake.
