(LaPresse/AP) – Hamas has welcomed the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the South African lawyer Navi Pillay, who chaired the United Nations Commission of Inquiry that accused Israel of genocide in the Gaza Strip. In a statement released today, senior Hamas figure Bassem Naim described the award as a message of hope for Palestinians, particularly those in Gaza, because it demonstrates that “humanity continues to resist the forces of evil that target international justice”.
