London (United Kingdom), 9 Oct. (LaPresse/AP) – Former Prince Andrew has received compensation of £302,000, equivalent to approximately €356,000, for relinquishing the lease on Royal Lodge, the residence near Windsor Castle where he lived for years. This was announced by the Crown Estate, the body that manages the property portfolio formally belonging to the British Crown on behalf of taxpayers. King Charles III had stripped his younger brother of his royal titles and ordered him to leave the 30-room villa at the start of the year, following growing controversy over his links with the US financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sexual offences and died in 2019. The decision came after public outcry and the release of documents from the US Department of Justice relating to the investigation into Epstein. The former Prince Andrew had left Royal Lodge in February, earlier than planned, moving to a residence on the private estate of Sandringham, owned by the monarch.
