(LaPresse/AP) – US President Donald Trump has stated that it is time for Ukraine to have a new president, suggesting that the current leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, has not done enough to end the war with Russia. Speaking at the White House on Saturday, Trump said: “I suggest they get a new leader who can reach an agreement”, “for some reason (Zelensky, ed.) never does”. The tycoon also claimed that if he had been US president in 2022, the war “would never have started”. “There was no reason why the war between Ukraine and Russia should have broken out. It broke out because of incompetence,” he added. Zelenskyy has “lost 30 per cent of his country and seen more than a million people displaced between the two fronts, as well as more than 2 million deaths. It is a war that should never have started. And I think it is time for Ukraine to have a new president,” he added.
