Washington (US), 15 Oct. (LaPresse) – The new White House spokesperson, Katie Zacharia, did not pass the bar exam in the United States, although she has described herself as a lawyer in her appearances on television and on her CV. This is the same title used by Donald Trump when announcing her appointment. The Wall Street Journal reports this. According to a source with direct knowledge of the facts, Zacharia sat the bar exam in California after graduating with a law degree from Pepperdine University in 2011, but did not pass it. She sat the exam whilst she was organising her wedding and preparing to move to China with her future husband, the source told the WSJ. On Tuesday, when a journalist asked her in which state she had passed the bar exam, Zacharia replied: “When I moved to China”, without providing further details. Later, when questioned by the New York Times, the spokeswoman said she had misunderstood the question. “I thought the question was: ‘Where were you after law school?’”, Zacharia explained. “That’s all I could make out because of the noise from Marine One,” the presidential helicopter, Zacharia told the newspaper. Zacharia’s legal qualifications have come under close scrutiny after the progressive newsletter Popular Information revealed that she is not authorised to practise law in either the United States or Washington D.C.
