Frankfurt (Germany), 17 Oct. (LaPresse) – The number of people arrested in the Paris metropolitan area has risen to 61 during the national day of action against the cost of living, in which students, trade unions and ‘yellow vest’ activists are taking part. This was reported by CNews, citing the police’s tally of interventions. Tensions were also reported in Lyon and Marseille. In Lyon, according to the Rhône prefecture, the police dispersed several groups of demonstrators, including around forty people on the Guillotière bridge, around fifteen at the Feyssine roundabout and around ten near the Feyzin refinery. Law enforcement officers also intervened along the banks of the Rhône, where around a hundred people – described as ‘hostile’ by the prefecture – had gathered. In Paris, the authorities have banned demonstrations in several areas of the city centre, including those near the Élysée Palace, Matignon and the Champs-Élysées.
