Rome, October 19 (LaPresse) – “Ukraine has never wanted this war, and we have welcomed virtually every attempt by our partners to bring the conflict to a dignified end. We have responded positively to every ceasefire proposal. Russia’s response, every single time, has consisted of ballistic missiles, Shahed drones and killings.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote this on X. Yesterday, US President Donald Trump accused the Ukrainian leader of not wanting to end the war in a post published on his social media platform Truth Social. Russian President Vladimir Putin “not only does not want to end this war, but does not even intend to take any steps towards de-escalation”. “When Ukraine’s air defence is blocked, while Russia is granted exemptions or delays in the implementation of sanctions, this unfortunately amounts to our partners denying reality,” Zelensky added. He also reported that “overnight and this morning, Russia struck energy infrastructure in the regions of Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa and Rivne. “During this night alone, more than 10 energy facilities were damaged, leaving at least 550,000 households without electricity. Repair crews are already working at the affected sites.”
