Tirana (Albania), 20 Oct. (LaPresse/AP) – The eighth day of clashes between police and protesters in Tirana, Albania. The demonstrators, including many students, are calling for a reduction in university fees, greater investment in education and the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. Police have used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protests, which have turned violent with stones and petrol bombs being thrown at the police. The students are calling for reforms in the education sector and have joined the so-called ‘flamingo movement’, which has been protesting for months against a coastal tourism development linked to Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and is demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation.
