Washington (US), 28 Oct. (LaPresse) – Vice-President JD Vance has contacted one of the most influential hardliners within the Iranian regime in an attempt to revive peace negotiations. This is reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing US officials and other sources familiar with the matter. According to the sources, Vance sent a letter to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s highest security body, the Supreme National Security Council, and former commander of the Pasdaran. The letter, writes the WSJ, was sent at the behest of President Trump, who is therefore aware of the initiative. Vance’s aim is to ascertain whether Tehran and Washington can find sufficient common ground to persuade Trump not to issue the final order for a swift and intense attack on Iran in the coming weeks.
