Turin, 29 Oct. (LaPresse) – Yashar leader Gadi Eisenkot has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of waging a campaign aimed at undermining the legitimacy of the elections and has vowed not to allow the opening of the Knesset to be obstructed. “I met a short while ago with the head of the Shin Bet and the chairman of the Central Elections Committee. They updated me on the situation. It is too early to understand what happened and whether it actually happened. We must allow the relevant professionals to complete their investigations without any political interference,” he explained, as reported by the Israeli media. “Foreign interference is unacceptable and serious, all the more so when it involves a state that funds terrorism and supports the terrorist organisation Hamas and which, in recent years, has managed to infiltrate the Israeli Prime Minister’s office,” he emphasised, referring to Qatar. “It is essential to investigate to understand whether they sought to exert influence and through whom they attempted to do so. What is already clear is that Likud and Netanyahu have launched an orchestrated and organised campaign to delegitimise the election results,” Eisenkot added. “Their statements and the key points of their speech were already prepared. They are doing this because they have lost. They do not have a majority. The State of Israel is governed by the rule of law. I will not allow even the slightest deviation from the Knesset’s scheduled inauguration,” he said.
