Nashville (Tennessee, USA), 30 Oct. (LaPresse/AP) – Christa Pike has said she has been in constant pain since surviving a lethal injection in Tennessee last month, but expressed her gratitude for the love and support she has received. Pike issued her first public statement today through her lawyers. She said she had entered the execution chamber prepared to die peacefully and had woken up alone and confused in a hospital bed. “Since that night, there hasn’t been a single moment when I haven’t been in pain. My whole body aches. My arms ache. My hands ache. My throat aches. I still struggle to speak. And the pain isn’t just physical. There is pain in my mind and in my soul,” said Pike.
