(LaPresse) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the US to bring forward the announced deliveries of 500 Patriot missiles so that the country can defend itself against Russian attacks as early as this winter. Zelensky described the US State Department’s decision to authorise Ukraine to purchase interceptors for the Patriot systems – intended to counter Russian ballistic missiles – as “important”. “Five hundred PAC-3 interceptors represent a considerable number and, very soon – as early as this winter – could constitute an extremely effective defence package,” Zelensky wrote on social media, as reported by Ukrinform. However, it has been established that deliveries may not begin for several years. We are asking our American partners to find a solution for the period during which there is a real danger and an actual need to deploy the PAC-3 interceptors.”
