Washington (US), 2 Nov. (LaPresse) – Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ) predicts that Tuesday’s Senate races in Texas, Alaska and Maine will go in the Democrats’ favour. This would be enough to put the party in a strong position to regain control of the upper house of Congress. According to DDHQ’s estimates, Democratic candidates James Talarico in Texas and Mary Peltola in Alaska have a 61 per cent chance of victory, whilst Maine Democrat Troy Jackson has a 63 per cent chance of defeating Republican Senator Susan Collins. Ddhq predicts that the Democrats could secure a 52-48 majority in the Senate. However, many of the races are still within the margin of error, which means that, statistically, the candidates are neck and neck. Overall, again according to Ddhq’s forecasts, the Democrats have a 64 per cent chance of winning the Senate, compared with 36 per cent for the Republicans.
