Turin, 3 Nov. (LaPresse) – Describing the meeting with Naftali Bennett, Avigdor Liberman and Yair Golan as “positive and important”, Yashar leader Gadi Eisenkot assured that the coalition’s leaders are “coordinated and ready for the coming days”. This was reported by The Times of Israel. Reiterating his commitment to forming a “national emergency government” based on the principles he has set out, Eisenkot stated that the parties will soon begin working on more detailed guidelines and implementing a series of initiatives in the Knesset. “We will act as quickly as possible to prevent Israel from being dragged into another general election and to put an end to Netanyahu’s attempt to cling to power,” he added. Eisenkot also stated that, from Tuesday onwards, Netanyahu will be “an interim prime minister, supported by only 46 members of the Knesset”. This statement suggests that the United Torah Judaism party, comprising seven members, is no longer part of the bloc. The party had been part of the outgoing government until last year and is normally regarded as part of Netanyahu’s pro-government camp, despite having recently expressed public doubts about its membership of that camp. This stance could herald future cooperation with the ultra-Orthodox party.
