Rome, 3 Nov. (LaPresse) – Spanish Transport Minister Óscar Puente has announced his resignation before the Standing Committee of Congress. As reported by El Mundo, Puente has also withdrawn his candidacy for the elections on the PSOE list. The announcement came at the end of a lengthy session during which Puente listened to calls for his resignation from a number of MPs. At the centre of a political storm following the train crash near Urda, in which at least 69 people lost their lives, Puente is reported to have informed Prime Minister Sánchez of his decision to resign shortly before making the announcement.
