Milan, 6 Nov. (LaPresse) – Today, bomb threats forced the evacuation of several newsrooms in Ireland and disrupted numerous other flights. The Irish national broadcaster RTÉ and Newstalk briefly suspended their broadcasts; RTÉ then resumed radio broadcasts from a mobile unit situated outside its headquarters, amidst a massive police presence. The threats came a week before Ireland is due to host 50 European leaders, including Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky, for two summits. This week, across Europe, dozens of passenger flights have been affected by bomb threats, whilst supermarkets have been targeted with attacks on fridges and freezers. “This is just the beginning; what has happened this week is only a small part of what awaits Europe in the near future… very soon we will blow up your aeroplanes, cruise ships, underground stations and trains.” This is the message contained in an email sent to various media outlets, as reported by the Financial Times (FT). The newspaper states that the email indicates its author is “one of the leaders of the group responsible” for the threats against airlines. In Ireland, a senior executive at broadcaster RTÉ stated that the email was sent to 18 media outlets.
