Reggio Calabria, Aug. 8 (LaPresse) – The Regional Council of Calabria was officially dissolved today following the formal acknowledgment of the resignation of the President of the Region, Roberto Occhiuto.
The decision was made official during the session of the legislative assembly, convened by the President of the Regional Council, Filippo Mancuso, after Occhiuto’s formal resignation was submitted.
The president's resignation automatically leads to the dissolution of the Regional Council.
Roberto Occhiuto had announced his intention to resign on July 31, also stating his intention to run again in the upcoming regional elections.
In a video shared on social media, he said: “I have decided to resign, but I have also decided to run again. I’ve decided to tell the Calabrians: you be the ones to write Calabria’s future.”
