Gymnastics, Emanuela Maccarani: ‘Debate can bring contradictions to light’

Rome, Sept. 22 (LaPresse) – “Given how this crime is defined, it took three years to move the case from a prosecutor to a judge, and the situation is still ongoing.” This is what Emanuela Maccarani, former technical director of the national rhythmic gymnastics team, said to LaPresse. Maccarani was indicted today in Monza for aggravated mistreatment involving minors. “Also, due to the legal configuration of this crime,” she added, “the defense briefs were not taken into consideration. Therefore, the only solution was to go to trial, where perhaps (finally) these contradictions, which have been extensively explained during the proceedings, will be taken into account.”
