La Liga, Atletico crushes Real 5-2 in Madrid derby

Milan, Sep 27 (LaPresse) – Atletico Madrid was dominant in the Spanish capital’s derby, valid for the 7th round of La Liga. Cholo Simeone’s side earned a resounding 5-2 win over Real Madrid, handing Blancos coach Xabi Alonso his first league defeat. Atletico took the lead in the 14th minute with Le Normand, but goals from Mbappé (25’) and Güler (36’) gave Real hope. Sorloth equalized 2-2 for the Colchoneros in stoppage time of the first half. After the break, it was all Atletico, with a superb Julian Alvarez scoring twice (50’ penalty, 64’), while Griezmann closed the match at 94’. The two Italians, Raspadori and Ruggeri, remained on the bench for Atletico. In the standings, Real Madrid remains first with 18 points ahead of Barcelona, who have 16 but one game fewer. Atletico is fourth with 12. In today’s other early match, Getafe and Levante drew 1-1.
