Gaza, Meloni: “Proud of Italy’s contribution to dialogue”

Milan, Oct 4 (LaPresse) – “I am proud of the contribution Italy has been able to make to dialogue, being at the forefront of humanitarian support for the Palestinian population while remaining a credible interlocutor for all actors involved, without falling into the trap of direct confrontation that many, often more out of interest than conviction, were calling for.” This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during celebrations for St. Francis, patron saint of Italy, in Assisi.

“The U.S. peace plan, already approved by Israel thanks to the mediation of several Arab countries, particularly Qatar, whom I believe we all must thank, could also be accepted by Hamas,” Meloni explained. “This would mean finally returning to peace in the Middle East, ending the suffering of the Palestinian civilian population, and seeing the release of Israeli hostages who have been held for two long years. A light of peace breaks through the darkness of war, and we all have a duty to do everything within our power to ensure that this precious and fragile opportunity succeeds.”
