Gaza, Crosetto: “If peace breaks out, it is our duty to be present”

Florence, Oct. 4 (LaPresse) – Regarding Gaza, “we are considering doing what Italy has always done in its commitment to peace. Our armed forces are respected around the world. They also carry with them the essence of being Italian, which means being welcoming and understanding. Our Carabinieri have the trust of the international community. We have the duty, if peace breaks out, to be present as Italians.” This was stated by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, speaking via video at the Leopolda 13 event underway in Florence. “We must be optimistic, clinging to this hope, and we must do everything possible to begin a long and difficult journey toward peace and coexistence between Israel, which has the right to live in security, and the Palestinian people. There is a shared global will and, for the first time, an intent on both sides that gives us hope,” the minister added.
