Tennis: Musetti wins derby against Darderi at Shanghai Masters 1000

Milan, Oct. 6 (LaPresse) – Lorenzo Musetti won the all-Italian derby in the third round of the Rolex Shanghai Masters, the penultimate Masters 1000 event of the season. The Tuscan player, world number 9 and eighth seed, defeated Luciano Darderi, ranked 29th in the ATP rankings, in two sets after a tough match, 7-5, 7-6 (1). In the second set, Darderi missed several chances to break Musetti’s serve and force a third set. In the round of 16, Musetti will face Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the 12th seed, who beat Dutch player Jesper De Jong 6-4, 7-5. This match is important for both players, as Auger-Aliassime is chasing Musetti in the ATP Race for the last available spot at the ATP Finals in Turin.
