Rome, 9 October (LaPresse) – “As part of the proceedings relating to the events concerning Benedetta Pilato and Chiara Tarantino, the Italian Swimming Federation, having also received the approval of the CONI Attorney General, has accepted the Federal Prosecutor’s proposal for sanctions relating to the plea bargain request submitted individually by the parties. Taking into account the facts that emerged from the investigation and the cooperative attitude of the athletes, who admitted their responsibility, the Prosecutor’s Office has determined a 90-day suspension from social and federal activities starting from today.” This was stated by the Italian Swimming Federation in a note regarding the theft that took place in the duty-free shop at Singapore Airport on their return from the World Swimming Championships.
