Shanghai, Oct. 12 (LaPresse) – Incredible feat by Valentin Vacherot, the Monegasque tennis player ranked No. 204 in the world, who won the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai by defeating his French cousin Arthur Rinderknech, ranked No. 54, in three sets: 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Vacherot thus becomes the first tennis player from the Principality of Monaco to win a title on the ATP Tour, in what was the first-ever final between two cousins. Thanks to this victory at the Shanghai Masters 1000, Vacherot will make a remarkable leap in the ATP rankings and will reach World No. 40 starting tomorrow.
