Milan, 5 November. (LaPresse) – The Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating whether the sale of the San Siro stadium and the surrounding neighbourhood to Inter and Milan violated competition laws. This is according to sources involved in the investigation into bid rigging relating to the sale of the Meazza stadium and a series of “areas and properties” located between Via Achille, Via Tesio, Via Harar, Dessiè, dei Piccolomini, Patroclo, Fetonte and Piazzale dello Sport, for which the deed was signed today between the Municipality of Milan and the vehicle company for the sale, Stadio San Siro spa. It is for this reason that the entrepreneur-promoter of the show and Ambrogino d’Oro, Claudio Trotta, was called as a witness. In 2021, Trotta brought the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, and the general manager of Palazzo Marino, Christian Malangone, to ASM Global, a multinational company specialising in the management of stadiums, arenas, theatres and shopping centres, to request an international tender for the renovation and future management of San Siro after 2030, when the current concession expires. This tender was never issued and was instead replaced in March 2025 by a public notice for the submission of expressions of interest, open for 37 days, which set the price at €197 million based on an appraisal by the Revenue Agency. The public notice states that “from 2019 to date”, i.e. from the moment the stadium and the “Grande Funzione Urbana” San Siro were included in Palazzo Marino’s Real Estate Disposal and Enhancement Plan, “no expressions of interest or proposals have been received from interested parties” in the stadium, excluding the owners of the two Milanese clubs.
