Washington, 11 November (LaPresse/Ap) – The US Senate has approved a bill to reopen the government, bringing an end to the longest shutdown in history, while a small group of Democrats ratified an agreement with Republicans despite criticism from within their own party. The shutdown, which has lasted 41 days, could continue for a few more days, as members of the House of Representatives, who have been on recess since mid-September, will return to Washington to vote on the bill. The final Senate vote, 60 to 40, broke a stalemate that had lasted more than six weeks. President Donald Trump expressed his support for the bill, saying on Monday that ‘we will reopen our country very quickly.’
