Rome, Nov. 13 (LaPresse) – “Politics is often intolerant of controls, intolerant of countervailing powers, intolerant of all those who question the exercise of its power.” So says Enrico Grosso, president of the Committee for No to the Referendum, contacted by LaPresse. “In my opinion, this attitude is wrong, first of all because it does not respect the rule of law,” he continued. “It is particularly wrong with regard to justice, because the delegitimization of the judiciary is a poison that ultimately causes profound damage to citizens, because citizens who no longer trust justice lose a fundamental element of social cohesion. A system in which justice is no longer trusted is a sick system, and I am very concerned about this.“ ”The fact is,“ he continues, ”that this reform was objectively intended to be directed against the judiciary. This stance worries me greatly, not so much in itself, but because of the poison it instills in citizens, who risk losing faith in a fundamental institution that holds the rule of law together.”
