Rome, Dec. 1 (LaPresse) – Writings reading ‘Monteverde anti-Zionist and anti-fascist’ and ‘Free Palestine’ appeared this morning on the synagogue in Monteverde in Via Giuseppe Pianese in Rome. The plaque dedicated to Micheal Stefano Gaj Tachè, a two-year-old victim of Palestinian terrorism who died on October 9, 1982, was also smeared with black paint. “On the day after yet another pro-Pal demonstration at the Monteverde temple, the dedication plaque was desecrated. All this fits into a climate of intimidation: the attack on the press headquarters in Turin and, in general, antisemitism has become a tool of political protest in the most abject way possible,” declared Victor Fadlun, President of the Jewish Community of Rome. “This is an act that outrages the Jewish community, that deeply wounds it. This is a gathering place where families, children, young people meet. We trust in the police forces and call for strong Government action to stop this spiral of hatred,” Fadlun added.
