Genoa, 2 December (LaPresse) – ‘Don’t touch Genoa’s industry’: this is the message from around 1,500 former Ilva workers in Cornigliano who marched this morning on the second day of protests, joined by employees of Ansaldo Energia, who have been occupying the factory since yesterday in opposition to the possible relocation of part of the manufacturing operations carried out at the Genoa site. The message that the workers sent is for the government to unblock the shipment of coils to Genoa, the rolls of laminate that, according to the announced plan, should remain in Taranto and no longer be processed in Northern Italy, with the risk of production being blocked and shut down. The airport remained operational while the workers, after staging a protest in front of the departures hall, set off in a procession, with men and vehicles heading for the Genoa Airport toll booth on the A10 motorway. They are now on the access ramps to the A10 motorway, which is blocked at the Cornigliano exit, with major repercussions on urban traffic in Genoa. The local Taranto trade unions Fim, Fiom, Uilm and Usb have announced a strike starting at 12 noon today, until further notice, to protest against the plan presented by the government on the former Ilva.
