Iran, NGO: ‘Erfan is alive, he met with his family today’

Milan, 18 January (LaPresse) – ‘Hengaw has learned that Erfan Soltani’s family was granted a brief in-person visit today, Sunday, 18 January 2026, and has confirmed that he is currently alive and in stable physical condition.’ This was announced by the NGO Hengaw. “This development comes after days of extreme concern about Soltani’s fate. Erfan Soltani, 26, from Fardis, Karaj, was arrested on Thursday, 8 January 2026, during public protests in Karaj. A few days later, the authorities informed his family that they had to report to the prison on Wednesday, 14 January, for a final visit before his execution, clearly indicating an imminent death sentence,‘ reads the post published by Hengaw on X. ’The execution did not take place on the announced date. Following widespread concern and requests for information, officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran subsequently denied that a death sentence had been issued against him. However, until today’s brief visit, the family had no direct confirmation that Erfan Soltani was still alive.”
