Rome, Jan 25 (LaPresse) – “I feel deep indignation and dismay over a decision that inflicts further, unspeakable anguish on the families of the victims and the many injured. The Italian state, and I personally, will remain by their side day by day in the pursuit of justice and truth. The government will never leave these families alone.” This is what the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, said in an interview with Corriere della Sera following the release on bail of Jacques Moretti, the owner of the Le Constellation venue in Crans-Montana, which caught fire on New Year’s Eve causing 40 deaths. The Prime Minister also addressed the ongoing investigation. “From the very beginning — she explained — Italy has offered cooperation to the Swiss authorities to shed full light on what happened. Our judicial police have consolidated experience to carry out all necessary investigations: I regret that this willingness has not been accepted so far, and that the investigations have instead encountered uncertainties, delays, and gaps, to the point that even the autopsies of young victims who did not have burns have not been performed.” Therefore, here is the request of the occupant of Palazzo Chigi: “I therefore ask that, at least now, after what has happened, a joint investigative team be established without delay and without further resistance, making use of the competence and professionalism of members of the Italian police forces.”
