Grammy Awards: Bad Bunny wins Best Album and attacks Ice

Milan, 2 February (LaPresse) – Bad Bunny won the award for Best Album of the Year at the 2026 Grammy Awards, closing a surprising and historic evening. This is the first time that a Spanish-language album has won the top prize. ‘Puerto Rico,’ Bad Bunny began in Spanish, thanking those who believed in him, those who worked on the album, and his mother. ‘I want to dedicate this award to all the people who had to leave their homeland to pursue their dreams,’ he said in English. ‘Before I thank God, I’m going to say one thing: ICE out,’ he declared, to applause from the celebrities present at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. ‘We are not savages, we are not animals, we are not aliens. We are human beings and we are Americans,’ added the Puerto Rican singer, attacking the Trump administration’s immigration policy. Harry Styles presented the award: the English singer had already won the top prize in 2023 with “Harry’s House”. That year, he beat Bad Bunny, who was nominated for “Un Verano Sin Ti”, the first Spanish-language album to be nominated in the category. Billie Eilish won Song of the Year for “Wildflower” and took the opportunity to join the chorus of musicians who criticised the immigration authorities on Sunday. ‘No one is illegal on stolen land,’ she said as she accepted the award for the song from her 2024 album “Hit Me Hard and Soft”.
