Security, draft decree: for those carrying ‘blades’ up to 3 years old, sanctions for minor parents

Rome, Feb. 5 (LaPresse) – “Anyone who, without justified reason, carries outside their home or its appurtenances tools with a sharp or pointed blade exceeding eight centimeters in length, shall be punished with imprisonment from six months to three years.” This is stated in Article 1 of the draft decree-law on security currently under examination by the Council of Ministers.

Once the facts are established, judicial police officers and agents, the text reads, “transmit the relevant acts to the prefect of the place where the violation occurred, who may apply, for a period of up to one year, one or more of the following administrative sanctions, giving notice to the competent judicial authority: a) suspension of the driving license, of the professional qualification certificate for driving motorcycles, and of the certificate of suitability for driving mopeds, or prohibition from obtaining them; b) suspension of the firearms license or prohibition from obtaining it.”

Also, in the first article of the decree, it is further explained that “the same penalty applies to anyone who carries, outside their home or its appurtenances, folding-blade tools with a blade length equal to or greater than five centimeters, single-edged and pointed, equipped with a blade-lock or spring mechanism, or openable with one hand, as well as tools with a sharp or pointed blade of the ‘butterfly’ type or disguised as other tools or hidden in other objects.”

Finally, if some of the offenses are committed by a minor under 18 years old, “against the person exercising parental responsibility over the minor, an administrative monetary sanction from 200 to 1,000 euros shall be applied.”
