Washington (USA), Feb. 6 (LaPresse) – Documents just made public by the Department of Justice show that investigators who examined surveillance footage from the night of Jeffrey Epstein’s death observed an orange-colored shape moving up a staircase toward the isolated and locked level where his cell was located, at around 10:39 p.m. on August 9, 2019. The annotation contained in a video observation log from the Metropolitan Correctional Center, CBS News reports, appears to suggest something that had not previously been reported by authorities: “A flash of orange appears to go up the stairs of Level L – it could be an inmate being escorted to that level.” According to an FBI memorandum, CBS notes, it appears that the reviews conducted by investigators led to conflicting conclusions between the FBI and those who examined the same video on behalf of the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General. In the FBI log, the blurred image is described as “possibly an inmate.” The Inspector General, instead, records it as an officer carrying orange-colored “laundry or linens,” noting it in the final report as “an unidentified correctional officer.” Official reports state that Epstein died by suicide at a time prior to 6:30 a.m., when his body was discovered by a correctional officer who was bringing him breakfast. An official time of death was never determined. In recent months, questions have emerged about the work of the investigators who examined the circumstances of his death.
