Security, Conte: “Government measures are propaganda, only aim to suppress dissent”

Rome, Feb. 6 (LaPresse) – On the security front, “the government is making propaganda rules. Today, for them, the problem is only to tighten restrictions on public demonstrations. They even wanted to impose a deposit so that only billionaires could organize public protests. This government’s priority right now is to prevent public dissent and protest. I say to citizens: are we really going to let ourselves be fooled by this crackdown?” said M5S leader Giuseppe Conte, guest on ‘Mattino Cinque’.

“At the beginning, I remember that when she took office, in a climate of absolute enthusiasm, Giorgia Meloni said she would sympathize with anyone who went out on the streets, even to protest against her government’s policies – emphasizes the former prime minister. – She said, ‘I’ve been on the other side for many years, I did it, and I understand what it means.’ Today, it seems to me that we have a Prime Minister and a government entrenched in a country where the priorities are extremely long waiting lists, low wages, a surge in unemployment benefits right now, and a drop in industrial production.”

“Why doesn’t Giorgia Meloni, who did well to take a plane and show solidarity with Carabinieri who were vilely attacked, do the same and go to healthcare centers, visit Caritas soup kitchens, or stop to speak with people affected by bad weather? Why does she ignore all of this? Why doesn’t she go to the factories that are closing or relocating, struggling with rising energy and utility costs? These are priorities the government is ignoring,” Conte concluded.
