Naples, 27 February (LaPresse) – With reference to press reports concerning the use of a Corps helicopter to transport Mr Giulio Rapetti, known professionally as Mogol, it should be noted that the rescue service in the Liguria region, operated by the Genoa Fire Brigade’s flight department, also within the framework of the agreement with the 118 health service, has maintained full and uninterrupted response capacity both in terms of emergency technical rescue services and integrated regional medical rescue services with aircraft equipped to the appropriate standards. This is according to a statement from the Fire Department. “Coverage of the territory,” the statement continues, ‘is ensured by a regularly operating helicopter, with a full crew, compliant technical equipment and readiness for immediate use, with specialist helicopter rescuers and divers on board. The aircraft used for the flight in question carried out an activity configured within the institution’s tasks, in the context of institutional flights not directly related to rescue activities. The flight hours logged are, in any case, part of the ordinary planning aimed at maintaining the necessary operational qualifications and safety standards of the aircrew. The activity in question was part of this training programme and did not result in any reduction in operational resources allocated to rescue operations. Mr Rapetti’s participation in the celebration in Rome of the 87th anniversary of the founding of the National Corps was intended to enhance the image of the Corps itself, with an award of merit presented to the great artist and as a thank you for the piece of music he chose to donate to the fire brigade.
