Sinner: ‘Preparation is going well, I need to be more aggressive’

Rome, 4 March (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner is ready to take centre stage at Indian Wells, where he has reached the semi-finals twice in his four previous appearances, in 2023 and 2024, both times stopped by Carlos Alcaraz. Partly due to his early exit in Doha, the South Tyrolean arrived in California ahead of schedule and has been training at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden since last weekend, under the supervision of coach Darren Cahill, to familiarise himself with the Californian hard courts. The 24-year-old from Sesto Pusteria, the second seed, will enter the competition directly in the second round, like all 32 seeded players. ‘My preparation is going very well. This is a special place. Obviously, not being able to participate last year makes it even more special, and we hope it will be a great tournament,’ said the world number two during the traditional media day. “I am very happy with how I feel on the court and obviously we want to go as far as possible in the tournament. At the same time, we are also trying to improve a couple of things. I’m trying to be a little more aggressive at times on the baseline, and then we’ll see how it goes. We always try to improve our game. I think we’re doing a great job. It’s been a very tough week of training for me. We’ve spent many, many hours training.” (continued)
